The Unseen Struggle: How Men are Overlooked in the Name of Women Empowerment

As we strive for gender equality, a subtle yet significant phenomenon has emerged: the inadvertent discrimination against men in the name of women empowerment. Non-profit organizations, in their zeal to uplift women, have inadvertently created a selection bias that excludes men from receiving support and resources.

This disparity is particularly evident in families where men are the primary breadwinners, taking care of their loved ones' livelihood. Despite their vital role, these men are often overlooked and excluded from aid and resources, solely based on their gender.

The reasoning behind this selection bias is rooted in the notion that women are historically disadvantaged and require extra support. While this is true, it does not justify the exclusion of men who are equally in need. Women empowerment is essential, but not at the cost of neglecting the struggles of men.

The consequences of this discrimination are far-reaching. Men who are denied support are forced to bear the burden of responsibility alone, leading to increased stress, anxiety, and depression. Their families suffer too, as they are denied access to resources that could improve their lives.

It's time to acknowledge and address this issue. We must recognize that gender equality is not a zero-sum game, where one gender's gain must come at the expense of the other. Rather, it's about creating a level playing field where both men and women can access resources and support.

Let's work together to create a more inclusive and equitable society, where the struggles of men are acknowledged and addressed alongside those of women. Only then can we truly achieve gender equality and empower families as a whole.
